What is time?

The continuous passing and succession of minutes, days and years, etc.

The above quotation is from Chambers 21st Century Dictionary but that is not really a definition of time -- only of the measurement of time.

The definition of time itself is much more difficult because it questions scientific and religious views. The 'Big Bang' theory is popular but you only have to think about it for a few moments (of time) before you ask yourself "what was there before the Bang?"
